A Tea Gift Box with finest Assam Orthodox, Green and CTC Tea. KORANGANI TEA has created an exclusive handcrafted gift package for the discerning customer. The packaging material used is not found anywhere else in the world, but in Assam- Muga, Pat/Mulberry and Endi silks. Three types of high quality tea- CTC Brokens(Grade-BOP), TGFOP (Whole Leaf Orthodox) and Mogra Fine (Green Tea), are wrapped in the three silks of Assam.
The master pack has a base of Muga silk with traditional Assamese motifs.
Muga silk is one of the many nature’s gift to Assam. The specialty of this silk is it’s golden bright colour. “Muga” is derived from the Assamese word ‘muga’ meaning yellowish. This silk is highly durable and it’s brightness improves with age. Because of its durability, mekhela sador, the traditional wear of Assamese women, made from Muga silk is a prized heirloom in Assamese families.
Pat silk or Mulberry silk of Assam is brilliantly white or off-white in colour. The larvae of the Pat Silkworm’s preferred food is the leaf of the nuni (white Mulberry) tree. The silk has a natural white tint and is known for its durability and glossy texture.
Eri silk comes from the caterpillar of Samia cynthia ricini, The name Eri is derived from the Assamese word ‘era’, which means castor as the silkworm feeds on the leaves of castor plants. The wooly white silk is often referred to as the fabric of peace when it is processed without the killing of the silk worm. Moths leave the cocoon and then the cocoons are harvested to be spun. Because of its light weight and warmth- it is the choice of fabric for shawls of Assamese people
This package is a result of KORANGANI TEA’s modest effort in highlighting the artifacts possible from the land and people of Assam.
This is truly a collector’s item from the Land of the Eastern Light.
